PIEDRA VISTA GOLFER WINS TRIP TO CALIFORNIA GOLF ACADEMY
The First Tee recently announced that Quinn Yost of Farmington, New Mexico is one of nine teens selected in its second annual CoBank PEAK Performers contest, a leadership and golf performance program for elite teens from across the United States. Yost, 15, will take part in a four-day, all-expenses-paid golf academy in August hosted by Sir Nick Faldo, World Golf Hall of Fame member and broadcaster, at the Terranea Resort and Trump National Golf Course in Rancho Palos Verdes, California.
Sponsored by Denver-based CoBank, the PEAK Performers contest received applications from more than 30,000 participants from The First Tee chapters nationwide. Quinn is one of nine winners selected based on his leadership and academic experiences, golf acumen and essay detailing the personal and professional impact of The First Tee of San Juan County, NM program.
“We’re thrilled to have Quinn representing our local chapter of The First Tee,” said Tina Pacheco-White, executive director of The First Tee of San Juan County, NM. “Quinn has been given a fantastic opportunity to be mentored by Faldo, a golf legend with six Major championships and more than 40 tournament victories, and grow, not only as a golfer, but as a young leader in the community.”
Beginning on Wednesday, August 21, Quinn will travel to Terranea Resort and Trump National Golf Club for a four-day/three-night trip. In addition to golf sessions with Faldo and tours of Los Angeles-area landmarks, he will learn how to apply The First Tee’s Nine Core Values through extensive leadership development, career exploration, and camaraderie with his fellow winners from around the country.
