SANDIA BASEBALL HONORED FOR ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE
The Sandia High School baseball program was recognized by the American Baseball Coaches Association with the 2018-2019 ABCA Team Academic Achievement Award. Sandia is one of 300 member college and high school programs recognized. The award highlights programs coached by ABCA members that posted a GPA over 3.0 on a 4.0 scale for the entire 2018-2019 academic year. The Matadors posted a 3.51 cumulative team GPA under head baseball coach Chris Eaton.
“Our team has one of the highest grade point averages of any baseball program in the country and this honor recognizes the commitment and effort of our student-athletes in the classroom,” Eaton said.
“This is an extremely high honor,” said Sandia athletic director Brian Weems. “We take academics very seriously at Sandia High School and coach Eaton and his players’ commitment to putting the ‘student’ in front of student-athlete has paid off.”
