WEDNESDAY MARCH 11

GIRLS

Ft. Sumner 53, Clovis Christian 32

The Foxes had nine players score in this game.

Logan 51, Tatum 23

Top ranked Logan got  20 points from Karli Webb.

Melrose 45, To’hajiilee 27

Hailey Martin led Melrose with 19 points.

BOYS

Volcano Vista 59, Onate 50

The Hawks were led by Jakwon Hill with 14 points.

Hot Springs 54, NMMI 47

Verrels Lukman led the Tigers with 20 points as the defending state champs advanced to the semifinals.

Melrose 64, Quemado 32

Devon Bailey led Melrose with 14 points.

Newcomb 65, Menaul 41

The Skyhawks started the game on a 20-2 run and never looked back.  Deondre Begay led Newcomb with 18 points.

Valley 52, Valencia 31

Defensively the Vikings held Valencia to single digits scoring in every quarter.  Seyi Oyeku led Valley with 17 points.

Bosque 48, St. Michael’s 46

Elijah Davidson led the way with 24 points and 13 rebounds.

Maxwell 71, Elida 61

Kollen Riggs had a double-double with 29 points and 15 rebounds.

Capital 60, Eldorado 55

TJ Sanchez led the Jaguars with 25 points.

Tatum 55, Fort Sumner 47

The fourth quarter was the difference as Tatum finished the game on a 17-8 run.  Kivan Cardenas led Tatum with 14 points.

Magdalena 52, Texico 45

The Steers had four players in double figures led by Owen Olney with 14 points.

Highland 53, Del Norte 44

The Hornets were up 30-15 at halftime and advanced to the semifinals.  Jose Murillo led Highland with 17 points.

Las Cruces 51, Clovis 46

The Bulldawgs rallied in the final quarter to outscore the Wildcats 18-11 down the stretch.

Sandia Prep 71, Cobre 68

The two teams were tied after three quarters, but the Sundevils outscored Cobre 21-18 in the final 8 minutes.  Sam Henderson led Sandia Prep with 35 points and 11 rebounds.

Jal 47, Santa Rosa 42

Jal put together a 16-3 fourth quarter run to come from behind and beat the Lions. Josh Cerventes led the Panthers with 18 points.

Hope Christian 61, Artesia 26

The Huskies built up a 27 point lead at halftime to advance to the semifinals.  Sean Martinez led Hope Christian with 18 points.

 

TUESDAY MARCH 10

Girls

Lordsburg 74, Magdalena 43

Madison Miller posted a double double with 30 points and 17 rebounds.  Her Lordsburg teammate, Ana Castenada, added 19 points.

Portales 63, Bernalillo 54

The Rams had a 31-21 halftime lead and never trailed in the final two quarters. Taris Rippee led Portales with 20 points.

Tularosa 78, Robertson 52

The second seeded Wildcats dethroned the defending state champs. Tularosa had four players in double figures led by Shacie Marr with 17 points.

Volcano Vista 58, Centennial 40

Volcano Vista held Centennial without a field goal in the 1st quarter and never trailed. Jaelyn Bates led Volcano Vista with 21 points.

Penasco 63, Rehoboth 23

Top seed Penasco jumped out to an 18-3 lead and never looked back.  The Panthers dominated their second round opponent behind 22 points by Carly Gonzales.

Highland 65, Pojoaque 55

The score was 12-12 after one quarter and the Hornets didn’t pull away until a run late in the third and into the fourth.  Cailee Crawford led Highland with 21 points.

West Las Vegas 60, Hatch Valley 47

West Las Vegas started the game on a 21-10 run.  Skylin Morgan led the winners with 18 points and 10 rebounds. Briana Marquez added 15 points and 12 assists.

Hobbs 49, Carlsbad 38

Wisdom Anthony led all scorers with a game-high 25 points.

Clayton 63, Newcomb 51

The 11 seed pulled off a quarterfinal upset with 4 players in double figures.  Clayton outrebounded Newcomb 54-36.  Mandy Crisp and Kaylee Mitchell each had 15 points for Clayton.

Los Lunas 62, Bloomfield 35

The defending state champs did most of their scoring in the 1st and 3rd quarters (20 and 24 points respectively). A 22-0 run to end the third (and into the fourth) put this one out of reach. Feleena Candelaria led the Tigers with 16 points and 10 rebounds.

Navajo Prep 67, Tucumcari 55

The top ranked Lady Eagles outscored Tucumcari 17-2 in the first quarter and never trailed.  Hailey Martin led Navajo Prep with a double-double,  16 points and 10 rebounds.

La Cueva 73, Mayfield 54

The Bears built up a 17 point lead at halftime to help them advance to the semifinals.  Carolina Romero led La Cueva with 23 points, including 5 three pointers. Kaya Ingram added 18 points.

Mescalero Apache 59, Pecos 41

Mescalero Apache outscored the defending state champs in every quarter. Romona Fossum posted the top numbers of the game with 26 points and 12 rebounds.  Her teammate Fallen Velasquez added 14 points and 11 rebounds.

Kirtland Central 61, Gallup 54

Kirtland Central held on for the victory in one of the closest games of the day.  Gallup got within one in this back-and-forth battle, but Kirtland Central pulled away in the closing minutes. Tatelyn Manheimer led the Lady Broncos with 16 points.

Tohatchi 56, SFIS 39

Tohatchi punched a ticket to the semifinals behind 17 points by Montana Sodo.

Piedra Vista 68, Farmington 51

The Panthers held Farmington to 11 first half points and cruised into the semifinals.  Piedra Vista had four players in double figures led by Celina Watson with 15 points.
