RATON’S CAYDEN WALTON REACHES 7,000 YARD MARK
Raton senior running back Cayden Walton reached an exclusive club this past week. Walton racked up 332 yards and five touchdowns in a 42-7 win over West Las Vegas. Walton currently has 2,166 rushing yards this season, bringing his career total to 7,014 yards. Walton is just the fourth player in New Mexico history to ever reach 7,000 rushing yards in a career. Laguna Acoma’s David McGee is the state’s all-time rushing leader with 7,170 yards from 2010-2014.
“It’s an honor to achieve 7,000 yards rushing, but I couldn’t have done it without the great teammates and coaching staff I have been fortunate enough to have throughout my career,” said Cayden.
Raton (7-1) has two more games left in the regular season. The Tigers host St. Michael’s on Saturday, in a rematch of their 7-0 state semifinal loss, and wrap up the regular season at Robertson on October 21st.
