Del Norte High School guard Shane Douma-Sanchez scored 60 points Tuesday night in a 72-67 loss to Eldorado. His total ranks 9th on the New Mexico Activities Association all-time single game scoring list.
“It was amazing, but not super surprising for us as coaches and teammates because he works harder than anyone,” said Del Norte head coach Jeron McIntosh.
Against Eldorado, Douma-Sanchez scored 21 points in the first half and added 12 in the third, followed by 27 in the final 8 minutes. On the night, Douma-Sanchez had 8 three-pointers on the game. He is currently averaging over 34 points a game this season, which leads the state. His current scoring average would put him in the top 10 in the nation, according to MaxPreps.
