FORMER LOS ALAMOS HIGH SCHOOL STANDOUT WINS 2ND STRAIGHT WORLD TITLE

Former Los Alamos High School standout Chase Ealey won her second straight shot-put world title at the World Athletics Championships in Budapest, Hungary.  Ealey took home top honors with a season-best throw of 20.43 meters on her fifth attempt.  Ealey also won the women’s shot put at the 2022 World Athletics Championships to become the first American woman to win a shot-put title at the World Championships.

“Just want to say thank you to everyone for the support and love in this moment,” Ealey posted on social media following her 1st place finish.  “Just want to thank my family for being there and my people that have got me to this place.”

In high school, Ealey was a state champion in the shot put and javelin her junior and season years.  She also won the Class 4A 100m race four years in a row, as well as running a leg for the 4x100m relay state championship squad for three straight years.  Ealey helped Los Alamos win three straight state team championships in high school.  She was the high-point female athlete at the 2011 state meet.

After graduating from Los Alamos High School, Ealey went on to compete for Oklahoma State.  She left OSU in 2016 as the most accomplished thrower in school history.
