Former Rehoboth Christian Student Athlete To Sing At Final Four
Former Rehoboth Christian student athlete Aidan Pete will be center court on Saturday at college basketball’s biggest stage. Pete, currently a third-year student at Arizona State University, will be one of eight college students invited to sing the National Anthem at the NCAA Men’s Basketball Final Four in Phoenix, Arizona. “It’s crazy that I get to be at the Final Four being a part of two things that I love, watching basketball and singing,” said Pete. “It’s the best combo ever!”
Pete is a Music Learning & Teaching major at ASU and was extended the invitation this week by one of his professors. “The associate professor of voice at Arizona State emailed me and asked if I wanted to sing the national anthem with other college students at the first game of the Final Four in Phoenix,” said Pete. “This is the craziest thing that’s happened to me.”
Four students from Arizona State will sing, along with one student from each of the schools in the Final Four. “We plan to start practicing Friday afternoon and then head to the stadium that day to rehearse,” said Pete.
Aidan graduated from Rehoboth Christian in 2021. He played basketball for four years, helping the Lynx win a state title his senior season. Aiden also participated in band and choir all four years of high school. “I am just looking forward to the experience of getting to be a part of two things I love doing,” said Pete.
Aidan and the group will perform before the North Carolina State vs Purdue game, scheduled to start at 4:09pm mst on Saturday. The game will be broadcast on TBS.
