SAN JUAN COUNTRY CLUB, PINON HILLS, AND RIVERVIEW GOLF COURSES TO HOST NMAA GOLF CHAMPIONSHIPS
The New Mexico Activities Association is excited to announce that three courses have been selected to host the State High School Golf Championships in 2025 and 2026. The host venues will be the San Juan Country Club in Farmington, Pinon Hills Golf Course in Farmington, and Riverview Golf Course in Kirtland.
“Each of these courses is known for their first-class facilities yet challenging layouts,” NMAA Executive Director Dusty Young said. “This makes them a perfect fit for the state high school golf championships.”
“Special thanks are due not only to the courses themselves, but also to the communities of Farmington and Kirtland as they host over 300 of our student-athletes and their families,” Young added.
Situated in the high desert at 5,500-foot elevation in Farmington, NM, San Juan Country Club’s golf course is meticulously maintained and will provide a stern test for the Class 5A New Mexico High School Golf Tournament. “The members and staff of San Juan Country Club are pleased to welcome you to our facility,” said David Crafton CCM, PGA, General Manager of San Juan Country Club. More information about this course can be found on their website at www.sanjuancountryclub.org.
Pinon Hills Golf Course in Farmington has been consistently recognized as one of the best public golf courses in the United States since opening in 1989. Designed by well-known architect, Ken Dye, the tee boxes, fairway landing areas and greens were dictated by the rolling and undulating shape of the land and natural desert features and formations. The City of Farmington invested $10 million into renovations in 2022 including a new irrigation system, concrete cart paths, bunker rebuilding, and clubhouse upgrades. The course website is www.pinonhillsgolf.com.
“The City of Farmington and Pinon Hills Golf Course are very excited to be given the opportunity to once again be a host site for the Class 4A New Mexico High School State Golf Championships,” said Chris Jones, PGA Member – General Manager, Pinon Hills Golf Course. “We’ve enjoyed being a part of the rotation in the past and look forward to showcasing the golf course and community to the participants from all over New Mexico.”
Riverview Golf Course is an 18-hole public facility, located in Kirtland, NM. Riverview boasts distinct challenges on each of its Sunset and Sunrise 9’s. The Sunrise 9 features a parkland style layout, which challenges golfers with treelined fairways and push-up greens. The Sunset 9 will test all abilities for the A-3A NMAA State Championships on this links-style course with natural terrain and elevation changes. “Birdies can be scarce with risk-reward possibilities on every hole of this Baxter Spann design,” said Tony Mike, General Manager and Head Professional.
