DION’S STUDENT SPOTLIGHT: SEBASTIAN CHAVEZ, RIO GRANDE HIGH SCHOOL

 In General News, Press Releases

Each month, we will spotlight a student from New Mexico who is involved in various athletics and/or activities.  Here’s a look at this month’s Dion’s Student Spotlight.  He is a senior at Rio Grande High School who participates in baseball and golf.  He is also student body president and the central district president for New Mexico Association of Student Councils (NMASC).  Baseball is his passion.  “I grew up around baseball and it was my first love,” he said.  “Some of my closest friends I got to know through sports.” He got involved in golf in the 5th grade.  “I broke my foot, and I couldn’t play baseball for a year because I messed up my ligaments, so I needed to find something else.  I tried chess, but found out I’m not very good. Then I found golf and fell in love with it.  Sometimes golf makes me mad, but it’s a fun sport and helps me out mentally too.”  After high school, he’d like to attend college and major in journalism or communications.  “I like that you get to go out and meet new people through athletics and activities.”  Meet Sebastian Chavez from Rio Grande High School.
