DION’S STUDENT SPOTLIGHT: JAMAL WITTER, ALBUQUERQUE ACADEMY

 In General News, Press Releases

Each month, we will spotlight a student from New Mexico who is involved in various athletics and/or activities.  Here’s a look at this month’s Dion’s Student Spotlight.

You don’t often find a student-athlete who is both a state champion on the track and an accomplished bowler, but this individual can do both well. “I’ve been bowling with my grandpa since I was young,” he said.  “The way the pins fall and the excitement you feel when you get a strike, I became addicted.” He’s a two-time state champ in the Long Jump, as well as anchoring a state-winning relay team. He is also the President of the school’s Black Student Union and a DECA National qualifier. “The people you meet and the events you get to go to, and the smiles you see, I enjoy it,” he said about being so involved at school. He will compete on the track for Rhodes College in Memphis this fall. The graduating senior has some advice to incoming freshmen, “Do as much as you can in high school. The more you try, the more things you might fall in love with.” Meet Jamal Witter of Albuquerque Academy.
