SIGN UP FOR AN NMAA STUDENT LEADERSHIP ADVISORY REGIONAL MEETING
The New Mexico Activities Association is pleased to announce that they will be conducting NMAA Student Leadership Advisory Regional Meetings again this year. The NMAA is looking for students in your community with a motivation to lead. We will discuss financial wellness, mental health awareness, sportsmanship, and using tools to be a more effective leader at your school. It’s an extraordinary opportunity for students to have a voice in matters pertaining to the NMAA. The regional meeting also offers a chance to meet like-minded peers from all around the state. Lunch will be served for attendees.
“The Regional Student Leadership Conferences are a gathering of student-athletes, thinkers, and advocates from the high schools of New Mexico who are passionate about their school and want to help,” said East Mountain High School student Miller Millea. “We have insightful speakers and advocates meet with us to present their important findings on topics that must be discussed within our schools. From these Regional Conferences, many students like myself leave with an understanding of the impact that they might be able to have at their school whenever wanting to advocate for an issue or create a solution.”
“I think having events like the regional meetings are significant because they have a big impact on each individual in retrospect to prevalent issues,” said Christopher Nevarez, a senior at Cottonwood Classical. “Regional meetings are also a great way to build a small community of leaders and develop their skills to further help in their schools and communities.”
“The upcoming Regional Student Leadership Conference allows student leaders from all different parts of the state to come together and share their thoughts and ideas on issues that they see in their areas,” said Jorianne Mirabal from Magdalena High School. “With members from the NMAA, New Mexico Department of Health, and Nusenda Credit Union, the goal is to provide students with information and tools that they can take back to their schools and communities. Ultimately, this conference leads to new relationships, new perspectives, and an opportunity to help better the well being and overall high school experience of students across the state.”
