DION’S STUDENT SPOTLIGHT: CHRISTOPHER NEVAREZ, COTTONWOOD CLASSICAL

 In General News, Press Releases

Each month, we will spotlight a student from New Mexico who is involved in various athletics and/or activities.  Here’s a look at this month’s Dion’s Student Spotlight.  He is a three-sport student athlete who competes in cross country in the fall, swimming in the winter, and track in the spring.  “I love the community feel of sports and being a part of it,” he said.  “The biggest advantage is getting to know people and how to work with people and being able to learn how to overcome disadvantages in life.”  He describes himself as an introverted person.  “I normally don’t go outside a lot,” he joked.  “I like to stay in and read a book, but I’ve been trying to come out of my shell more.  I lock myself out of my own room in order to force myself to talk to people and that totally worked.”  After high school, he plans to attend the University of New Mexico and double major in music and engineering.  He plays electric guitar, piano, drums, along with cello and violin. “I really enjoy how expressive music can be, how you are able to capture any emotion and be able to play it out.” Meet senior Christopher Nevarez from Cottonwood Classical.
