 In General News, Press Releases

For the first time ever, the New Mexico Activities Association will host a Middle School Cross Country Invitational, involving students from all over the state. The 1st Annual NMAA Middle School Cross Country Invite is October 18th at St. Pius X.

“I am excited to see so many middle school students willing to run as hard as they can for their school,” said Cleveland Middle School Athletic Director Keith Jeneski.  “The competition will be great, and kids will feel like they are a part of something special.”

“The NMAA Middle School Cross Country Invite is a unique opportunity for student athletes to participate in an experience similar to the NMAA High School State Cross Country Meet,” said Denise Johnson of Kennedy Middle School. “This is a great experience for young runners to participate in and compete with other runners from the state of New Mexico.”

“This event shines a light on the dedication and hard work these young athletes have put in throughout the season,” said Los Alamos Middle School Coach Adrienne Hetrick . “It’s a moment to celebrate their achievements and growth, recognizing that the skills, discipline, and teamwork they’ve developed are laying the foundation for their future success. This invitational is a chance to recognize these young athletes and their dedicated coaches for the hard work they’ve already put in. It’s an opportunity to celebrate their journey and to highlight the crucial role middle school sports play in shaping future champions.”

Race times are 4:45 p.m. (Boys) and 5:15 p.m. (Girls). Tickets for the event can be purchased at the link below.
