2017-2018 NMAA MEMBER SCHOOL PARTICIPATION SURVEY
Attention Athletic Directors – Click here for the 2017-2018 NMAA Member School Participation Survey. This survey will be used to collect student participation numbers in both athletics and activities for member high schools across New Mexico. The New Mexico Activities Association is again working with the National Federation of State High School Associations to collect this data and your assistance is greatly appreciated. Please submit your completed form to the NMAA office by fax at (505) 923-3114 or via email to jackie@nmact.org. The deadline to submit your school’s participation survey is Friday, May 18, 2018. Although you may only be able to directly provide student participation numbers for athletics, please work with your colleagues to provide as much data as possible for activities as well. If you have any questions regarding this year’s participation survey, please do not hesitate to call Jackie Martinez at (505) 923-3281 or by email at jackie@nmact.org.
MY REASON WHY
There are countless benefits to participating in high school sports and activities, but a lot of concerns as well. To overcome resistance and drive participation, #MyReasonWhy highlights diverse stories and memories shared by students, parents, coaches, officials and community members. We’re working together to show how participation not only develops individual skills and character for the future but drives a stronger sense of self and community that students will feel immediately and for the rest of their lives. To share your story visit www.nfhs.org/MyReasonWhy and share your story.
COMPETE WITH CLASS NOMINATIONS
In an effort to establish and sustain the Compete with Class initiative, the NMAA will be highlighting acts of sportsmanship through various awards and recognition programs during the 2017-2018 school year. In order to do this, our office NEEDS YOUR HELP! Acts of sportsmanship by individuals, coaches, officials, administrators, spectators, or teams as a whole should be reported to the NMAA office as they occur. Photos of these acts would also be appreciated. Send your nominations to J.P. Murrieta at jp@nmact.org.
TWITTER ACCOUNTS & FEATURE ARTICLES
Coaches and athletic directors, we are encouraging all of you to help us spread the positive news about high school athletics. If you have a Twitter account, please email us with your Twitter handle so we can follow you. If your school or athletic program doesn’t have a twitter account, I highly recommend signing up for one. It’s free and real easy to use and it’s become a simple way for keeping in touch with others involved in your program and getting your message out. You can let us know your social media information by sending us an email to jp@nmact.org
We also encourage you to check out our webpage at NMACT.org. We have exciting new features every week.
